Two things that I love alot

I was trying to think of things that I utterly loathe and the number of things was so high that I had a hard time concentrating on one or two things. So I decided instead to write in my blog about things that I enjoy a great deal. I like far less things than I dislike so the game was afoot. It didn't take me long to figure out the two things I like. I'm not sure which of these two things I like more, so I will just talk about both of them.

Now the first of the two is something I enjoy a lot...
1. Great Mexican Food.

Great Mexican food can be hard to find here in the Pacific Northwest because as the well known fact goes, the farther away you are from Mexico the less authentic the food becomes. But here in the Northwest we have many people who love food which helps the situation because it keeps the quality of food in general at a pretty consistent level . There are definitely a few special places I have been to up here that have set themselves apart from the competition in one way or another.

Gorditos
in Seattle, WA (The Greenwood Area)

213 N. 85th St.
Seattle, WA 98103

The reason that Gorditos made this list is because the food is delicious, well priced, and the portions are well OVER sized. This is the home of the biggest burrito I have ever seen, bar none. The food is made with fresh ingredients and the food amount to price ratio is the best I have ever seen. This restaurant is highly regarded yet remains something that only people from Seattle know about. If you are ever in Seattle come and check out their food.

Tito's Burritos
in Portland, OR (Downtown, South West)

SW 3rd Ave & Washington St
Portland, OR 97201

Tito's got on the list because for quality, timing, and price to quantity ratio. Titos is your best bet when you are in downtown Portland around 3rd avenue and want something delicious for lunch. It isn't just one of the better choices for mexican food in Downtown Portland, it is also one of the better recognized food carts in all of Portland with two separate locations in the downtown area.

The Stand
in Seaside, OR

220 Avenue U
Seaside, OR 97148

The Stand got on the list because it is without a doubt the best mexican food in the entire great state of Oregon. It is the best kept secret of the Oregon coast. When ever I go to the Stand, I get food to eat there and food to take home with me to eat later because it is that good! If you are ever in Seaside Monday thru Saturday, you should definitely go have lunch at the Stand. You won't regret it.

That was a look at three of my favorite Mexican food establishments. Now I talk about the second thing that I love...

2. Pulp Novel Covers

I love these covers because it takes the ideal of perfection from the era (the pin-up girl) and it puts her in a compromising position depending upon what kind of pulp cover you are looking at. Here are multiple examples of the kind of Pulp covers I am talking about. They are artistically well crafted and fun to look at and analyze.

HEAT WAVE
in The City

Thursday July 30, 2009

Yesterday the Temperature topped out at around 103 degrees. Wow. This is one of the hottest Summers that I can remember around here in the Pacific Northwest.
As I wandered around the city I noticed that as it got hotter peoples ideas of appropriate attire became more and more lax until the point where all the normal rules go out the proverbial window.
Example: I saw a woman walking her dog near the University that had turned her thin strap T-Shirt into a bikini (no bra) and the only thing on her upper torso. Needless to say that she wasn't in the fittest shape or condition. But hey, she was just trying to stay comfortable while walking her pet in this devil weather and I don't blame her for that. I just blame her for doing it in front of me.
This is just proof of my theory about this region which is: people here are so used to mild and overcast weather that when it is extremely hot and/or cold, the normal laws and rules just don't seem to apply. Example: When it snows in either Seattle or Portland the people driving become hopelessly dangerous drivers because "we don't often get snow", there have been famous clips of bad snow drivers from both Portland and Seattle on YouTube. While winter weather bends and changes rules the flip side is also true. When it gets extremely hot we just straight up get naked in public and no one cares because they are too busy trying to keep cool themselves. Which is pretty damn cool in and of itself.

Welcome...

Hello one and all...
This blog will primarily contain the random mutterings from the madness that derides from living in this perfect dystopian paradise known as the Pacific Northwest.

It will also contain lists of various subjects and film reviews.

It also might contain recipes from time to time as well.

There will be no special break down. What you read is what you get.

Welcome to Pacific Dystopia and enjoy your stay
